Founded in 1998, Wechsler Becker, LLP is a family law firm located in downtown Seattle's Columbia Tower, one block from the courthouse. Martindale-Hubbell rates Wechsler Becker as an AV law firm, its highest rating, and lists the firm in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. The firm consists of five partners and three associates, all exclusively practicing family law.

Cases handled include high value/high profile divorces, complex parenting disputes; cohabitation cases, paternity actions, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, child relocations and post-decree modifications of child support, spousal support and parenting plans. We also provide consulting services and litigation support for other attorneys. Firm members frequently speak at legal education seminars, take leadership positions in the family law bar, and serve as mediators and arbitrators upon request by other family law attorneys.

With the increasing complexity and specialization of family law, our firm enjoys the benefit of concentration in one field. Wechsler Becker holds monthly case meetings to exchange ideas on how best to handle cases. Sharing experience and knowledge in a small cohesive firm, concentrated in one area of the law, allows all clients to benefit from the expertise of the entire firm.

Our attorneys believe that family law is a fascinating field, different from other types of law, and that it is the ideal practice for those who endeavor to help real people solve real problems. We apply creative problem solving techniques to the intertwined legal, emotional, and financial complications involved in family law disputes. Our attorneys believe that it is very important to work with professional organizations, the courts and the legislature regarding the administration of justice and its impact on the public. Therefore, the firm encourages and supports its members' involvement in bar associations and community activities. Four of the five partners are former officers of the Family Law Section of the King County Association, and our senior associate is its present secretary, and vice-president elect. Three of our members are former trustees and one is the former president of the King County Bar Association, two are former chairs of the Family Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association, and our attorneys have served as members and chairs of numerous other bar committees. All five partners and our senior associate have been active as speakers on family law matters. One member is a Guardian Ad Litem representing children. Members of the firm also work with legal clinics, volunteer to teach unrepresented parties the How-To-Finish-Your-Divorce class at the court, volunteer with the Family Law Mentor program, volunteer with the Court Appointed Special Advocate program, and volunteer settlement conference program. Members are also encouraged to maintain involvement in pro bono cases.

Quote: "In this age of frequent competition and hostility in the practice of law we offer an environment which is supportive, and facilitates provision of the highest quality work for our clients. Our attorneys work well together in a very comfortable office atmosphere. When dealing with so much grief and discord in the family law practice, it is a pleasure to surround yourself with those with whom you get along and whose experience and advice you respect. We indeed feel fortunate to be a group." If you need help, you should consult with an attorney before you make any important decisions.
