Sophia Woolery is a Partner at Wechsler Becker practicing exclusively in the area of family law. She approaches each of her cases with pragmatism, empathy, preparedness, and care. She prides herself on strong communication and advocacy skills—both inside and outside the courtroom. As an experienced litigator, Sophia understands the procedural and substantive intricacies of litigation and how to best balance those complexities with her clients’ desired outcomes. Sophia is attentive to the nuanced issues and needs of each of her clients, consistently maintaining a hands-on approach with her cases and recognizing the emotional burden and trauma that often accompany family law matters.
Sophia began her career in family law during law school as a Rule 9 Extern at the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center in Tacoma, Washington, where she became versed in domestic violence and family law while providing pro bono legal services to survivors of domestic violence. Her work involved significant client interaction and countless mediation sessions and court appearances, which sharpened the strong trial and client advocacy skills she practices today. Prior to that, Sophia clerked for the Honorable Kathryn Nelson and the Honorable Thomas Felnagle in Pierce County Superior Court. Clerking at the superior court level allowed Sophia to gain valuable perspective from the bench while also honing her legal research and persuasive writing skills. Her education and past experience have primed her to be effective in resolving disputes efficiently, professionally, and most importantly, with compassion.
When she isn’t working, you can find Sophia spending time with her family, supporting Seattle’s live music scene, riding her bike, and enjoying all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
